Systems Vs. Purpose

My trip to Colorado was magical. I couldn’t stop awing at the mountains and oohing at beautiful wild landscape before me, filled with wildflowers and tall free-flowing grass. I created deeper connections with new friends and found yet another place on this beautiful Earth I feel right at home. Being in an inspiring place such as Boulder lead me down the path of pondering this life. As I was walking back from the lake, I began to reflect on the ways my life and priorities have evolved in the past few months. Waves of pride and joy washed over me as I thought of all the ways I have created positive change. I also struggled, playing with the idea of why it was it so hard for me to step off of the train and forge my own path towards pure purpose and passion. My heart ached at the thought of my friends and old co-workers who were downright miserable but paralyzed.

It dawned on me that the US has created such a system that essentially brainwashes us into thinking that there is only one way to live our lives. It is expected that you grow up, go to college, get a job, stay the cog on the wheel. It doesn’t seem to matter if this job makes you miserable, if your making more money than your childhood neighbor you’re doing life right. How did society get so fucked up. How did we get to the point where we are actually forcing, competing and (most astonishingly) encouraging each other to jump on this train and spend our lives this way. I CAN NOT get behind this one bit. I have literally watched the souls of my co-workers and friends being ripped out of their bodies, crushed and returned to them. This is no way to live. I wonder where it all went wrong, where it was decided that the passion, joy and light heartedness of life could not be apart of the everyday. That instead, it would include stress, intense structure with disregard of working and learning style. It seems to me this a part of some sick plan to keep the business world functioning just as certain powerful humans would like it to be.

So my question is, what if I want to do something different, then what are my options? Somehow the concept of a “normal” life has been altered to be a cookie cutter life style that seems to have sucked the “create your own” choice from our existence. If “creating your own” life is even in your line of sight, your future seems terrifying. How did it come to this point, where there seems to be only one acceptable way to live out your life and make an honest living. I feel as if society hides this way of thinking from us. I see examples of this in my everyday from the multitude of people who have reached out, expressing to me that they too desire to quit their jobs and start anew. We are constrained by the values that are inflicted upon on by society. But I ask you, what are your values?

Really they are the core of what makes us who were are and also what society wants us to forget by adapting to what is force fed to us through the media. If each and every person lived by their values, man, that would be a happy and beautiful world. Honestly, I had buried these ideologies so deep in my core that I had to uncover them, one shovel full at a time, before coming to the realization that I could be free of my misery. If right now, you can shift your mindset and identify your value set, I believe you will have an advantage over 90% of the people in your area. It is when we do this that we can then begin identifying the steps that will bring us to work and life that is filled with passion and purpose. Identifying creates a hyperawareness of activities that will help us engage in the kind of behavior that aligns with our true selves. It really helps to cut through the noise of life and direct us in what can eventually be on a subconscious level. It rewires the brain in such a way that we can actually turn down the volume of others so low, it’s almost inaudible. Your purpose prevails out of the depths of your soul and into the light of day, a bit dusty from being trapped inside but eventually brighter than ever before.  Once the bullshit has been cut through, it is then that the new path becomes a clearer transition. I am here to remind you that YOU do have the power to create your best reality.
